2009 Bowman Draft Picks Football Preview

Posted by houstoncollector on February 23, 2009

I know, this came out last week.  However, I was scanning the usual haunts and came up with this sales sheet for the upcoming 2009 Bowman Draft Picks football, which presumably will replace last year’s horrible Topps Progression football.  Given that Bowman has Draft Picks products for baseball and basketball, this makes perfect sense to me.  It comes out in early May at a decent price of $3 per pack or $10 per jumbo pack.   But wait, there’s more.

The best part?  On-card signatures.  Hobby boxes will get one on-card signature and one autographed rookie patch per box, with jumbo boxes pulling two on-card signatures and an auto’d patch.  Kudos to Topps for pulling on-card signatures, meaning that these will be the first major-name product to offer them and only trailing SAGE Hit and Press Pass overall.

The rookie auto’d patches will either be college letter patch cards, which will be signed on the patch itself, and are presumably manufacturered, and college logo patch cards, which will be stickered, but also presumably manufacturered.  Outside of that, the standard Bowman stuff applies here, although there are /no/ Chrome cards in this.

This could honestly be a pretty decent product, if done right.  We’ll find out here in a couple of months.
