2009 SP Authentic Baseball Preview

Posted by houstoncollector on June 10, 2009

Thanks to Upper Deck over on their Facebook page, we have information on this year’s SP Authentic baseball, and …. wow.  This product has 200 cards in the set, and fully half of them are short-printed.  Now, to be totally fair to Upper Deck here, it’s not like SP Authentic has been a set builder’s set for years, so this isn’t too shocking.  Still, I’m curious to know how short-printed these are.

Breaks will include:

Box Break:
Twelve (12) short-printed base set cards
Six (6) serial #’d base set or base set parallel cards
Three (3) standard insert cards
Two (2) By the Letter manufactured-patch autograph cards per box!
One (1) Future Watch Rookie autograph or SPA Signature insert per box on average!

Case Break:
One (1) Dual, Triple or Quad signature card per case, on average!
One (1) 20th Anniversary Memorabilia card per case, on average!

The presumption here is probably 18 packs a box with an unknown number of boxes per case.  We have card images below, and there’s going to be 93 1993 SP Derek Jeter buyback autograph cards inserted into the product as well, which comes out in September.
